Surrender Blog Tour + Giveaway: Interview with Jag Barque

Hi everyone. Today I’m talking to Jag from the Possession series by Elana Johnson (Possession and Surrender).  Welcome to the blog, Jag!

So, Jag, you are a Baddie has been to the Goodgrounds more than a couple times. I'm wondering, what did you think of the Goodgrounds the first time you went there?

The Goodgrounds is not my favorite place, but I do love the thrill of sneaking over their lame fences. I love the technology in the Southern Rim, but since it’s that technology that keeps the population brainwashed, it’s sort of a love-hate relationship.

The first time I went to the Goodgrounds, I couldn’t believe the enormity of it. The Badlands is much smaller. Once I got over that, I stopped paying attention to the surroundings and focused on the job.

You and Vi have been through some really challenging and tough times together. What was the hardest thing you've had to do throughout it all?

The hardest thing I’ve done with Vi is leave her. I know, I know, you’re all like, “Why do you keep freaking out and leaving?” Trust me, I have my reasons. And they’re good ones.

But leaving her is hard every single time, especially that last time. But I know we’ll see each other again. We have to.

There are some really cool pieces of tech in your world. Do you have any favourites? What do they do?

The best tech in the Association is the teleporter ring. They make escaping almost too easy…

How important is the resistance, really?

I’m going to pretend you didn’t ask this question. Because the resistance is everything. It’s the only thing standing between you and complete brainwashing. How’s that for important?

You seem to really love reading. Every time you are relaxing it seems to be with a book in your hands. I was wondering if you have a couple favourites you might want to share with us?

I’m mostly a non-fiction reader. Tech manuals and how to manufacture without pollution. That kind of stuff.

Let’s play a game. I’ll list a few things and you tell me which one you’d choose if you had the choice:

Children or no children – Children, maybe.
Good or bad – Bad.
Hovercopter, ascender, or by foot – Of those choices, I’d go with my own two feet.
Blue, black, white, or red – Black—it blends better.
Milk or water – Water. Milk is so… powdery.
Truth or lies – Depends on who’s asking and what they want to know.

That’s it. Thank you for sharing with us today, Jag!

We also have a giveaway from Elana Johnson:

About SURRENDER: Raine has always been a good girl. She lives by the rules in Freedom. After all, they are her father’s rules: He’s the Director. It’s because of him that Raine is willing to use her talent—a power so dangerous, no one else is allowed to know about it. Not even her roommate, Vi.
All of that changes when Raine falls for Gunner. Raine’s got every reason in the world to stay away from Gunn, but she just can’t. Especially when she discovers his connection to Vi’s boyfriend, Zenn.

Raine has never known anyone as heavily brainwashed as Vi. Raine’s father expects her to spy on Vi and report back to him. But Raine is beginning to wonder what Vi knows that her father is so anxious to keep hidden, and what might happen if she helps Vi remember it. She’s even starting to suspect Vi’s secrets might involve Freedom’s newest prisoner, the rebel Jag Barque….
